About This Program
Tabla is one of India's most sophisticated rhythmic instruments — and SMC has been teaching it at the highest level for over a century. Our tabla program follows the Prayag Sangeet Samiti exam pathway from Prarambhika through Sangeet Prabhakar. Students learn bols, thekas, kaydas, relas, chakradars and laggi — developing both solo performance ability and ensemble accompaniment skill. Dhol and dholak classes are also available for students interested in folk and celebratory percussion.
